Welcome on the website of Damen Shipyards Bergum.

A variety of vessels built by Damen Shipyards Bergum, member of the Damen Shipyards Group and located in the North of the Netherlands, testifies the rich tradition of the yard since its start in 1955. The yards reputation for excellence and expertise is based on the solid foundation of decades of shipbuilding and engineering. In recent years the yard has invested extensively in highly skilled staff, research and design facilities and state-of-the-art shipbuilding techniques.

Being part of the cargo vessel division of the Damen Group, the yard is specialised in the vessels such as short sea cargo vessels, oil tankers, large tugs and offshore vessels. In 1985 the Group developed, in close cooperation with ship owners, a range of dry cargo vessels and Damen Shipyards Bergum has extended this range ever since. These cargo vessels are now known under the name of Damen Combi Coaster and Damen Combi Freighters. At present vessels both dry cargo and oil products are built within the range of vessels from 1.700 up to 8.200 tons dead weight.

With approx. 90 employees, Damen Shipyards Bergum is building 7-8 vessels per year. This production volume requires an industrial approach with skilled engineering and production departments, experienced project management and purchasing of proven and reliable components.

The yard is equipped for building complex and complete vessels and can provide the range of activities ranging from design, to building and delivery and after sales services.

As a result of the close corporation with the other shipyards with in the Damen Group, Damen Shipyards Bergum is able to built cost effective and modern vessels against competitive market prices. The Damen Group has production facilities in Yichang in the P.R. of China, Galati in Rumania. Based on this corporation Damen Shipyards Bergum is able to build quality vessels, operated cost effective that will keep their value through the years of services for the ship owners.
